Beagle eating cooked dog food from bowl

Feeding your dog or cat fresh food isn’t just a trend to us, it’s a return to what nature intended and a common sense way for them to attain good health. When they eat better, they feel better—fewer sluggish days, better skin, stronger immunity.

Fresh food contains natural sources of fatty acids, vitamins and minerals that are more bioavailable, meaning that their bodies actually know how to use them better compared to ultra processed diets that contain a lot more synthetic vitamins and minerals. And because species-appropriate fresh diets are more digestible, your pet gets more usable energy and nutrition from every bite. This means they stay fuller longer, resulting in a less hunger pangs and a healthier body weight.

Even Small Additions Make a Big Difference

Studies have shown that adding even a small amount of vegetables to a dog’s kibble can boost immunity and reduce cancer cell growth1. So just imagine the benefits of a fresh food diet made up of 100% whole ingredients for your pet! Feeding fresh food has long lasting health effects that can also mean lesser trips to the vet.

The Grateful Pet meals for dogs and cats are made from 100% whole ingredients, with high-quality lean muscle and organ meats as the main ingredient, along with carefully selected species appropriate ingredients that your pets can benefit from.

Species Appropriate Nutrition

In the wild, dogs and cats survive on a diet that is mainly meat, especially for cats who are obligate carnivores.

Our goal is to recreate a beneficial diet that is most suited for the nutritional requirements and digestive tracts of each species. All fresh food recipes are formulated to be high in animal-based protein. By rotating your pet’s meals with our wide selection of meat-first recipes, there’s never a dull mealtime for them. Plus it helps your pet increase their nutrient intake and reduces the risk of them developing allergies and intolerances related to food.

Energy levels are better regulated for pets fed with fresh food from The Grateful Pet as starchy ingredients that cause weight gain and lethargy never get included in our meals. The benefits of fresh food also extend to the skin and coat with healthy-looking shiny coats and less itchy skin. Eating fresh is so good for your pet and never looked better.

No Dubious Ingredients

Nothing irks us more than questionable ingredients.

For many commercial pet food manufacturers, the use of cheap and insecticide riddled carbohydrates and other poor-quality fillers in the making of pet food is common practice. Items that count as ‘corn’ used in dog food can include cattle feed, corn remnants and corn meal dust. That is a real ‘corn-job’ if you ask us! Fillers from ingredients like soy, beet pulp and wheat used to add bulk to commercial dog food and bind it together is another reason why we opt for fresh pet food. Plus! Our meals are also 100% preservative-free.

With our 100% fresh and natural meals for dogs and cats, none of that icky stuff ever finds its way into your pet’s bowl.

Sourced from Human Grade Suppliers

No one enjoys a serving of mystery meat and your pets should not be subject to it either. Many commercial pet food brands legally contain “4-D” meat: meat from dead, dying, diseased and disabled animals including road kill and expired meats. The Grateful Pet takes pride in sourcing our fresh produce from human-grade suppliers that provide ingredients to reputable restaurants and hotels in Singapore. Waste Not, Want Not

No one likes talking about it but when you are in charge of scooping the poop, it matters! Think of your pet’s digestive system like a sponge. Fresh food—made with real meat, veggies, and minimal processing—is easier for that sponge to soak up. That means more nutrients are absorbed and less waste is left behind. Now imagine giving that same sponge a dry, sticky powder (aka kibble). Kibble is often made with carbohydrate fillers like corn, wheat, or pea flour—stuff that your pet’s body can’t fully break down. So what happens? More waste is produced by your pet’s body.

Smelly poop comes from undigested, poor quality proteins and carbs fermenting in the gut—basically, when your pet’s food just… sits there. Fresh food, especially those high in animal protein and low in fillers, breaks down more efficiently and doesn’t clear the room with its smell.

Keeping It Pure & Honest

Sadly, many pet food labels include vague terms such as ‘meat’ and ‘meal’. This is on top of harsh chemical ingredients such as butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytolueneused (BHT) that are commonly used as preservatives to keep kibble consumable after sitting on the shelf for years.

How often have you picked up a dusty bag of dog food from the shelves? BHA and BHT are also known to be endocrine disruptors and have carcinogenic properties3 when consumed frequently.

The Grateful Pet uses fresh whole foods and other ingredients that are clearly labeled for your ease of mind. Have a question about our food or ingredients? Send them our way and we’ll be glad to help you out with them.

Our meals also never include added salt, artificial vitamins and minerals, or chemical preservatives. Instead, our fresh food is packed in BPA-free, freezer grade packaging and kept fresh through the process of flash freezing. This helps to preserve nutrients in the food and protects against bacteria formation.
